Muet examination

Hi, girls and guys..
So, i'm gonna write about MUET speaking test.. I had just done it last week πŸ˜‚ so, yeah. The idea and flow is still fresh in my mind..
Feel nervous yet?? Of course you are. Everyone is nervous.. its normal. But try to calm down. Cause nervousness will not help you to do better in this test .
Remember that this is a one-shot test. Fail it, then say goodbye to all those band 6 dreams. Pass it, phewww!! 3 more tasks to go πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ‘

So, here's what u can do to prepare yourself before the muet exam..

  • Try to do at least one exercise for every topic (environment, tourist, country, studies and etc..) with your friends or even by yourself ( try talking in front of a mirror to look at your body gestures..)
  • Consult your teacher or tutors or even lecturers if you had any doubt.
  • Read about the current issues.
  • Read the past year's muet test. The topic in general is basically the same. So, you can revise all of the topics and brainstorm the points beforehand or while you're bored..
  • Try to control your nervousness and talk in front of your friends. Ask them to comment on your language, body gestures and fluency.
  • Print the muet slip.. btw, please print it beforehand, so that you won't get a mini heart attack if the surver is down a few days before your muet examination. It happened during our year. And everyone who had not print the slip was in chaos.. so, print it earlier..
  • Make sure to bring your muet slip and also IC on that big day!
You can actually predict which candidate you are going to be by looking at the number on your slip. For example, if you are candidate 0001- meaning that you are candidate A, so you're gonna start first.. if you are candidate 0040- therefore, you are candidate D.. just count the numbers in a group of 4s.  Got it?? If you are 0123- meaning that you are candidate C..

Make sure you checked the date and time properly. Once you missed it, then...... you need to reschedule for the next muet πŸ˜• so, dont want that to happen.

The flow:

AT THE QUARANTINE ROOM
  • Be at the waiting room 15 mins bfr your time. If it starts at 11am, therefore, be at the waiting room at 10.45am.
  • Once you're in the quarantine room. Your phones will be taken from you.. switch it off. Don't put it in silent mood or vibration cause it can still cause disturbance during the examination. Try to be nice to the examiners as possible since they're the ones whos gonna judge you..
  • Bring your muet book and read before going into the test room.
  • Take the time before your test to know your teammates. Decide who's gonna start and also end the discussion. This is very important cause then, your discussion will flow nicely..
  • Ask your teammates who's gonna be the anchorperson. Meaning that if suddenly the whole group is stuck.. he/she can save the day.  Basically the anchor person is the one who is fluent in english and can help to save all of the teammates' marks as well.
IN THE EXAMINATION ROOM:

  • Greet the examiners once you're in the room. You don't need to shake their hands and so on. Just greet them good morning and take your places.
  • Don't touch the papers on the table. Just sit politely and let the examiners check your slips and also IC.
  • When the examiners ask you to read the question, take a deep breath and read it.
FLOW OF SPEAKING:
1st task!!
  • Good morning/good day to all/candidates and examiners. I am candidate A/B/C/D and today I'm going to talk about (read your question in a summarize way. Don't read the whole question again.. it'll waste your time)
  • My first/main point is..... elaborate on your points.
  • Next/my second point/furthermore,....
  • My last point is/the last point is....
  • To conclude, I think that my point (state your point) is the best (your question)
You only have 2 minutes to talk. Make sure you use it wisely! Write all your notes largely on the A4 paper. Dont write too small and make sure you can read your own handwriting. Just write point forms and don't write the whole essay about what you're going to talk about. It won't really help you. Write it in point forms and talk fluently..
2nd task:
  • Hi again. So, I will start the discussion. In my opinion/point of view, I think that( your points.)
  • Debate on the topic for 9 minutes. Don't agree on one point instantly.. debate about all the four points and make sure all the members had the chance to talk at least twice per person. Don't let one person dominate the discussion cause it will decrease the other member's points and also the person's grades as well cause the examiners will think that he/she is bossy.
  • To end: I think we all agree that... / in conclusion, all of us could not agree to one point as all of us stand on our own opinion. But nonetheless, for me, I learn a lot today and I think you all did too. This is indeed a fruitful discussion. Thank you.
There's no guidelines for discussion. All of you could choose to agree to one point/ 2 points or you can't agree to anything. Its up to u guys. Because this is a discussion, so everything can be accepted.
What is important is that you talk in english. And the marks will flow to your hand.

Good luck πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ do your bestπŸ’ͺ and also pray for my muet result as well πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ owh. And my finals is coming really soon 😡😡 pray that I can do it and get it done with.

πŸ’“πŸ’“ yours truly
